Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka was conceived in Minsk. Sergey, her father (who died in 2019) was an ice hockey player. Aryna Sabalenka was born 5 May 1998 in Minsk Belarus. She has been awarded 12 WTA singles titles. One of them was an Australian Open Grand Slam at the 2023 Australian Open. Doubles is another sport where she is a pro. In the US Open 2019, and Australian Open 2021, US Open 2019, and Australian Open 2021 were both played by Elise Mertens. Alongside her fellow Belgian tennis champion, the Belgian won the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami in 2019, thus completing her the Sunshine Double. The feat only four pairs in women's Doubles were able to achieve. In the month of January, 2023, she surpassed her top ranking in singles. The 23rd day of August 2021, she rose to the second spot in the World rankings. When she played doubles, she managed to push herself to the top of the list at the beginning of February that year following her victory in Melbourne becoming thus the second tennis player from Belarus to be a part of this specialty. Dmitry Tursunov was her coach in 2018 until the season ended in 2019, and also for a brief period before the year 2020 began. Dieter Kindlmann was her trainer from August through September 2020. Since the end of 2020 she has been coached by her fellow countryman Antonio Dubrov. Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova were her idols.
